Recent attempts

Sadly I have no photos still; i apologize, grovel at your feet, beg your forgiveness...whatever you would like. I can report that I knit one baby sock, and thats about it. I have started a Picovioli shirt (again) with a size larger needles than i had tried before. I have made so little progress on my Camoflouge socks that its not even worth going into; and please don't ask about the Petticoat socks, i'm rather trying to pretend they don't exsist right now. Note that i said one baby sock...there will not be two, i tried my hand at magic loop for the baby sock and have decided that while i like the idea, i hate teeny weeny socks. I've started a grownup sock in bright purple Opal, haven't quite decided on a pattern yet, probably one of Sock Bugs, they're so pretty. Well, off to enjoy my nice, quiet weekend. Next week begins the first of two weeks spent with my loving bfs adorable (and active) nephews, I get to try and convince an almost three year old mommas boy that it really will be fun to hang out with boring ol Ashley...wish me luck.

Head Start

Although I've avoided knitting people gifts for christmas, reading the Yarn Harlot blog has convinced me that it may be the way to go. So... I have embarked on several quests to figure out gifts I can knit that the people on my list will enjoy. So far I've come up with making 3 knit courier bags by the name of Spork (pattern here: www.larissmix.typepad.com/spork), 4 Sophie bags, 2 pairs of socks and 2 or 3 pairs of fuzzy feet. Which is why I'm writing about Christmas when it's just barely July. I gotta get a move on, there aren't even sweaters in this mix yet and I'm already afraid that I won't make it. And there are still a few people that may end up with store bought gifts. Three year olds tend to not appreciate sweaters (especially when they live in FL) enough to merit being knit one. Oh well, sorry about the picture free post today, my living space is a disaster, next time i promise pictures.

I Win!!

I finished the socks, finally! The socks that were fighting me every step of the way finally decided to give in and let me finish them. The observant person might notice that they are fraternal rather than identical socks; i am trying to let this go (its not working very well).

And the obligatory sock on the foot shot....

Now that i've finished these i've finished these I can focus on the Odessa cap I'm knitting for my grandmother. I've had some severe issues with this hat so far, but now the pattern seems to agree with me. The alpaca yarn i'm knitting it out of is kind of picky, and really likes to shed pink fuzz all over me. But Grumperina's pattern is clearly written and easy to follow, once i remembered how to count (and read for that matter) it was easy as pie. The yarn is a picky alpaca that likes to shed pink fuzzies all over me, but it is soo soft that it's easy to forgive it. I'll post pictures of Odessa when its a little further along, I can't get a good picture of it at this stage. Well, off to the post office to send the lovely Auntie her surprise.
